Plug in a few details of your portfolio… price paid for each property, current value, rental income, mortgage outgoing, and the web application converts the information into a handy cash flow statement and an analytics page, so you can feel on top of your investments. There’s a contacts and reminders section, too, plus a place for insurance and mortgage information. Does it do anything an analogue filing cabinet can’t do? No. Will it make you more likely to stay on top of things in these troubled times? Possibly. It’s free to manage one property, then there’s a sliding scale of membership depending on the size of your property portfolio, but it’s not expensive. All the examples are Australian, but don’t let that put you off, its scope is international.

The Value of Blogging in the Real Estate Industry (or any other Industry)

Quite honestly I have never really seen the Value of Blogging as in my opinion it was a bit of a waste of time to either write or read about what some other person did or thought yesterday afternoon between 3pm and 5pm.

But there is NO denying it: There is a large Community of Bloggers out there covering every conceivable Topic and for whatever reason Blogging seems to get more popular by the Day.
And those Bloggers are also potential Customers for any Industry!

To set up a Blog you have various Options:

You can open a free Blog Account with any of the many Online Blogs. These are usually fairly easy to set up, do not cost anything(but might insert some Advertising) and will be good as a Starting Point to gain some valuable blogging experience. Blogger.com is one of many such Sites. You can then link to your new Blog from your existing Homepage!
You can download free Blogging Software (I am using WordPress) but there are many other around. Fairly easy to set up as well (they have the famous 5 Minute Set Up-and it does work) but you will need to have your own Hosting Space somewhere.If you have enough Space on your existing Hosting Account you can install this into a Subdirectory and link to it from your Homepage.

I decided to see for myself what all the Fuss was about. As we are in the art supplies Business I created a Blog about Art Supplies-linking most Articles and Images back to one of my existing e-Commerce Websites.

I have a good Stats Program on the e-Commerce Site and can therefor see exactly where Customers are coming from and more importantly what are they looking at or for.

I was surprised to see that within 1 WEEK a whole lot of Traffic came from my newly installed Blog. (To be fair-I must mention that the Blog web address or URL had already been online for some time but with different Software-so already was attracting some Traffic). Somehow Blogs seem to be good for Traffic- especially if the Blog Content is of Value!

Not necessarily all translating into Sales but nevertheless Traffic to my Products.
